What a kitchen renovation costs in Dublin

These are the prices Dublin kitchen companies publish themselves, read on their own pages on 1 November 2026. A renovation and a remodel are the same job: new units, doors and worktop in the room you have. Most companies don't say whether VAT is in the price, so we show what each page says.

Dublin homes

Redbrick, semis, estates and apartments

49% of Dublin homes were built before 1981 (CSO Census 2022). When a house was built decides the size of its kitchen and how hard it is to open up, and the 2022 census shows how different the parts of Dublin are.

Redbrick and period terraces

38% of homes in Dublin 6 were built before 1919. Narrow return kitchens, and if the house is a protected structure, ask the council what's exempt before you plan.

Dublin 6 figures →

1930s to 1970s semis

81% of homes in Crumlin and Walkinstown went up from 1919 to 1970. Small kitchens, so a knock through or a 45 m² rear extension is the usual way to get room.

Dublin 12 figures →

1970s to 2000s estates

46% of Tallaght homes were built from 1971 to 1990, and 52% of Dublin 15's from 1991 to 2010. Kitchens that age often need doors or a whole new kitchen, not a new room.

Dublin 15 figures →

Apartments

59% of households in our Dublin 8 divisions live in flats. The lease and the management company's rules decide what you can move, so a refresh or a new kitchen on the same walls is the usual job.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Dublin?

A typical made-to-measure family kitchen with a quartz worktop costs €15,000 to €25,000 fitted, VAT included, at The Home Upgrade Co. Aloco Kitchens in Santry puts a budget kitchen at €5,000 to €10,000 fully installed and luxury kitchens from €25,000. A respray of your existing doors costs €700 to €3,000 at Dublin Kitchen Respray. Checked 1 November 2026.

Is a kitchen remodel the same as a kitchen renovation?

Yes. Both mean replacing the units, doors and worktop, and sometimes moving the layout. Irish companies use renovation, refurbishment and refit for the same job, and remodel is the American word. A refresh or makeover keeps the units and changes only the doors, paint or worktop.

How long does a kitchen renovation take?

Fitting takes 3 to 5 days and a whole project 2 to 3 weeks, or 4 to 6 weeks for bespoke, by Aloco Kitchens' figures. A made-to-measure kitchen is fitted about 12 weeks after you sign off the design at The Home Upgrade Co. A respray takes 1 to 3 days.

Do I need planning permission for a kitchen extension in Dublin?

Not for a rear extension of up to 45 square metres, counting earlier extensions, if it meets the conditions: no higher than the house, and at least 25 square metres of private open space left. The limit rose from 40 to 45 square metres on 27 July 2026. Dublin's four councils apply the same national rules.

Do Dublin kitchen prices include VAT?

Not always. The Home Upgrade Co. includes VAT at 23% in its prices. Aloco Kitchens, Nolan Kitchens and Kube Interiors don't say. Revenue taxes the supply and installation of a fixture at the reduced rate, subject to the two-thirds rule, and supply-only fixtures at the standard rate, so ask every company to put the VAT on the quote.

Can one company do the kitchen and the bathroom?

We pass kitchen requests to a kitchen company. If you're doing the bathroom at the same time, say so in the message box on the form, and the company will tell you whether it takes on both.

What happens after I send the form?

We pass your request to one kitchen company that works in your part of Dublin. They ring you on the number you gave to talk about the job and arrange to measure. One company, not a list, and nothing is booked until you say yes.
