Do I need planning permission for a kitchen extension in Dublin 6?
Not for a rear extension of up to 45 m², counting earlier extensions, that meets the conditions, including leaving 25 m² of private open space. Dublin 6 is in Dublin City Council's area, which applies the same national rules. If you need permission, the fee for a domestic extension is €34.
Can I extend a period house in Dublin 6 without planning permission?
Usually, if the extension is at the back, adds no more than 45 m² counting earlier extensions, and leaves 25 m² of open space. Protected structures are different: works that would materially affect the character of the building need permission, and Dublin City Council will say which works are exempt in a section 57 declaration.
