Not for a rear extension of up to 45 m², counting earlier extensions, that meets the conditions, including leaving 25 m² of private open space. Dublin 12 is in Dublin City Council's area, which applies the same national rules. If you need permission, the fee for a domestic extension is €34.
Can I build a kitchen extension on a Crumlin house without planning permission?
Yes, if it's at the back, adds no more than 45 m² counting earlier extensions built after 1964, is no higher than the house and leaves at least 25 m² of private open space. On a small garden the open space rule is usually the limit, not the 45 m².
